Report: Man Utd set 30 million pounds asking price for Rasmus Hojlund

The 21-year-old found the net twice in United's pre-season win over Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday and was quick to reaffirm his commitment to the club in the post-match media zone. However, United's ongoing interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has cast uncertainty over Hojlund's long-term future.

Sources close to the club suggest that United are weighing up a formal move for Sesko, who is also on Newcastle's radar. While the Magpies have yet to reach an agreement with Leipzig, there is a growing belief that the 22-year-old Slovenian forward would favour a move to Old Trafford if the opportunity arises.

United maintain they are capable of bringing in new signings without needing to sell first, but there is an acknowledgement that outgoings may be necessary to remain compliant with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The club has already invested nearly 130 million pounds this window on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

If Sesko were to arrive, Hojlund would likely see his role significantly diminished, prompting United to explore potential exit routes. Offloading Hojlund for 30 million pounds would, however, represent a financial loss - his current book value stands at around 43 million pounds, just two years into a five-year contract signed following his 72 million pound move from Atalanta prior to the beginning of last season.

Hojlund's future could hinge on how quickly United move for Sesko and whether any firm offers arrive for the Dane. Despite flashes of potential, his debut season in the Premier League was inconsistent, and the club may now view him as expendable in their broader squad restructuring.
