Scottie Scheffler claims fourth straight PGA Tour Player of the Year award

Scottie Scheffler claims fourth straight PGA Tour Player of the Year award

There was little debate about his latest Jack Nicklaus Award, with Scheffler topping the Tour with six wins - double the tally of any other player - including major triumphs at the PGA Championship and the British Open, placing him within touching distance of a career Grand Slam.

Capping a standout campaign, he was the first golfer since Woods in 2000 to post the Tour's lowest scoring average across all four rounds, while also finishing inside the top 10 in 15 straight tournaments to close out the season.

In addition to 19 wins across his last 80 PGA Tour starts, Scheffler has finished in the top three in just over 46% of his appearances.

"Overall the thing that I'm most proud of when I look at the last couple years is just consistency," Scheffler said.

"It's not very easy to just show up and finish in the top 10 each week.

"That's something that's very difficult to do and something I'm very proud of, bringing the intensity that I need to in these tournaments and being prepared as I need to in order to perform well week in and week out."

Scheffler's name appeared on the ballot alongside Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Ben Griffin. The award is determined by a player vote, although the PGA Tour did not disclose the percentage of votes Scheffler received or the total number of participants.

Tiger Woods holds the record with 11 wins, including a streak of five consecutive titles from 1999 to 2003.
