Arrows were the better team at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium with goals from Sede Dion (15') Isaac Cisse (75') and Thokozani Khumalo (87', 92') in a one-sided clash.
Since then both teams have lost, with Gallants going down 1-0 to Durban City and Arrows losing 3-1 to Orlando Pirates.
But speaking ahead of the game, Lafitte explained that his focus is on securing silverware for his team this season.
He said in the Sowetan: "This game is different. It's very important to learn from your mistakes. When we played Arrows last week, we added more numbers forward after conceding the first goal, and we ended up being vulnerable at the back. The cup game is different, and the approach will be different.
"We know it's a very important moment for the club to be in the semi-finals, especially because we know in the championship we don't play to win the title, so with this cup we have an opportunity to win something.
"It's very important for us to qualify for the final."
Gallants beat Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch to secure their semi-final place.
The young head coach added: "Arrows are a very good team, so we need to fight very hard. We must be united [and] apply the same mindset we applied when we played Stellenbosch in the quarter-finals and Sundowns in the first round.
"I believe we’re ready for the challenge.
