Bafana boss Hugo Broos: We are in a good position now

South Africa beat Benin 2-0 at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny with goals from Lyle Foster (53') and Jayden Adams (84').

The result left Broos' side on top of Group C with 13 points from six games and five clear of both Rwanda and Benin.

There are, however, questions marks surrounding the recent 2-0 win over Lesotho last week for the use of potentially suspended Teboho Mokoena. Bafana could potentially face a points deduction if found guilty of a breach of FIFA rules.

But reflecting on this match, an upbeat Bafana boss said his side now fear no one, after a commanding performance against the odds in the Ivory Coast.

He said on IOL: "We are not afraid anymore of who plays against us. The only thing we have to do is hard work like we have done until now.

"I'm not saying that everything is already done. We are in a good position now, but I think with the group that we have and if we do not do stupid things, we are very close to World Cup qualification.

"I think the players did what we asked of them. We knew where we could be dangerous against this team, Benin.

"It is a good team, but we did well today keeping the ball and waiting for the right moments. In the first half, we could really do something, but in the second half, it started being easy.

"We could score the second time, and I said to the bench, my assistant, that if we score once, we will win the game. I think it was like that. We dominated the game, and I think we deserved to win."

Bafana next play Lesotho and Nigeria in September in match day seven of their World Cup qualication campaign.
