Dani Olmo backs Barcelona's new signings to outshine rivals Real Madrid
Dani Olmo has spoken candidly about Barcelona's transfer business, comparing their new recruits to those of arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants, under the guidance of Hansi Flick, produced a performance brimming with goals and flair, though defensive lapses offered moments of concern for the German tactician.
The Catalans' goal-fest was led by Robert Lewandowski, who opened the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by a brace from the electric Lamine Yamal in the 14th and 45+3rd minutes. Andreas Christensen added a fourth in the 55th minute, while Ferran Torres netted twice in the 74th and 88th minutes.
Gavi, wearing the captain's armband, capped a commanding display with a fine strike in the 76th minute.
Flick, speaking post-match, expressed his delight with the team's overall display but highlighted areas for improvement. "We started well in the first half, though we grew a bit sluggish at times.
"In the second half, we found our rhythm again, with standout performances from Gavi, Ferran Torres, and others," he said.
The German coach reserved special praise for Gavi, whose leadership and energy epitomised Barcelona's ambitions. "Gavi showed exactly what I want: driving the team forward as captain. We saw glimpses of this last season, and he's at a very high level," Flick remarked.
On Gavi's versatility, he added, "He can play as a 6 or an 8, and he excels in both roles."
Flick also commended Gerard Martin for adapting to an unfamiliar position, saying, "He played out of his usual role and did well."
The manager explained the absence of key players, noting, "We gave each player 45 minutes. It was important to protect Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez, who had minor issues. I'm very satisfied overall." Youngster Dro was also rested as part of Flick's cautious approach.
Despite the emphatic scoreline, Flick acknowledged defensive frailties, particularly in periods where FC Seoul capitalised. Barcelona's attacking depth, however, proved too much for the Korean side, with the likes of Yamal and Torres underlining their credentials as key figures for the upcoming campaign.
Recent updates on X reflect the excitement surrounding Barcelona's pre-season form, with fans praising Gavi's leadership and Lamine Yamal's dazzling displays. One post read, "Gavi captaining Barca and scoring screamers, Yamal running riot, this team's future is bright!"
Barcelona's Asia tour continues to build momentum as they prepare for the 2025-26 La Liga season, with Flick's high-pressing philosophy taking shape. The challenge now lies in balancing their attacking exuberance with defensive solidity.
