Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates unveil bold new jerseys for 2026/27 season

The Buccaneers drew inspiration from both their rich history and passionate supporter culture ahead of their 90th anniversary celebrations in 2027.

The new kit launch introduces two contrasting designs that capture different elements of the club's identity while maintaining the traditional Orlando Pirates look that supporters have become familiar with over the years.

Pirates' home jersey remains rooted in the club's famous black-and-white colours, featuring the iconic stripes complemented by subtle red detailing. According to the club, the design was inspired by granite, symbolising resilience, strength and endurance.

"The home jersey reflects the very foundation of Orlando Pirates born from the heart of a community defined by passion, unity and defiance," the club said in a statement.

"Just like the club itself, granite stands the test of time, shaped but never broken."

The Soweto giants explained that the jersey pays tribute to the generations of players, supporters and legends who helped transform Pirates into one of the most recognised football institutions on the African continent.

Meanwhile, the away jersey takes a more lifestyle-inspired direction. Designed in a white-and-gold colour palette and featuring the classic adidas trefoil logo, the jersey focuses on the vibrant culture and loyal supporters who continue to shape the identity of the club.

"The away jersey celebrates the soul of the city," the statement continued.

"It is a tribute to the energy, diversity and heartbeat of its supporters whose stories, creativity and passion continue to shape the identity of the club."

Pirates added that the away strip reflects football street culture and the close connection between the club and its surrounding communities.

The launch forms part of the countdown towards a historic milestone for the Buccaneers, who will celebrate 90 years since the club's formation in 2027, with the new jerseys representing the club's past, present and future.
