Currie Cup: Griquas continue good form with commanding win in Bloemfontein

The men from Kimberly were on fire in the first half as they scored five of tries to go into the break with a 33-5 lead with flyhalf George Whitehead starring in the contest.

The veteran number 10 scored a try and slotted five conversions for a 15-point haul Griquas wing Gurshwin Wehr adding a brace of five-pointers.

Whitehead, Zane Bester and Caleb Abrahams scored early on as the visitors raced into 21-0 lead before the home team hit back through through hooker Marko Janse van Rensburg.

Wehr's first try and another from fullback Cameron Hufke gave the visitors commanding advantage on the scoreboard at the Toyota Stadium.

The wing added his second five-pointer after the interval before the Cheetahs got a consolation through Daniel Maartens but the game was already sealed.

In the final round of the league phase, Griquas face the Lions at Ellis Park while the Cheetahs take on the Bulls at Loftus.
