Junior Springbok superstar Hasshim Pead scooped up by Roc Nation Sports

Junior Springbok superstar Hasshim Pead scooped up by Roc Nation Sports

Pead burst onto the scene in the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship in Italy, where the Junior Springboks went on to lift the trophy. The nippy No.9 scored six tries in the campaign, but perhaps the stat that brought him the most notoriety was his record-setting 232 running metres, dethroning none other than France megastar Antoine Dupont.

Since, Pead has signed with the Lions and been used sparingly off the bench, waiting in line behind Springbok scrumhalf Morne van der Berg.

Nonetheless, the 20-year-old is a prodigious talent for the future. And Roc Nation has recognised that.

"At Roc Nation Sports International, we look for athletes who not only excel on the pitch but also possess the character to inspire the next generation," said Michael Yormark, President of Roc Nation Sports International.

"Haashim's journey as a professional rugby player is a story that will resonate throughout South Africa, and we look forward to supporting him to reach his full potential."

Springboks already on Roc Nation's books include captain Siya Kolisi, Cheslin Kolbe, Aphelele Fassi and Jordan Hendrikse. Double World Cup winner Kolbe had a message for the rising star.

"I am excited for the journey you are embarking on," said the winger.

"Enjoy every moment. Welcome to the Roc fam, brother."

Speaking about the announcement himself, Pead said he won't forget where he comes from.

"Joining the Roc Nation Sports International family is an exciting moment for me," he said.

"Watching the impact they have had on the careers and lives of players I look up to, made this an easy decision. I'm proud of my roots in the Bo-Kaap, and as I take the next steps in my career, I'm excited to have a world-class team behind me as I look to achieve my goals both on and off the field."
