Kaizer Chiefs promote DDC star Kabelo Nkgwesa to first team

According to FarPost, Nkgwesa was the only fresh face spotted in first-team training last Friday, marking his possible transition from the club's youth ranks to the professional setup under coach Nasreddine Nabi.

The 20-year-old left-back played a pivotal role in Chiefs' DDC side last season, helping them clinch their first-ever reserve league title.

The young Glamour Boys set a new benchmark by amassing 70 points - winning 22 matches, drawing four, and losing just twice in 28 outings.

Nkgwesa's outstanding performances earned him two major accolades at the club's DDC awards ceremony: Most Improved Player and Player of the Season.

His promotion comes at a time when the senior team has a vacancy at left-back following the departure of Mozambican international Edmilson Dove.

While the club has yet to issue an official statement regarding Nkgwesa's promotion, all indications suggest he will be part of the first-team squad in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign.

In related transfer news, Chiefs are expected to announce the signings of former Orlando Pirates duo Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane. Both players recently parted ways with the Buccaneers after their contracts were not renewed.

The two wing-backs are set to join Amakhosi on free transfers, potentially adding depth and experience to Nabi's side as they aim for a fresh start next season.
