Kylian Mbappe: Zinedine Zidane reunion feels like 'something out of a movie'

Zidane has taken charge of France following Didier Deschamps' departure after 14 years in the role, with Mbappe remaining captain of Les Bleus.

For Mbappe, the appointment has a special meaning. Zidane was already part of his football journey when he was a teenager and helped him get an early look at Real Madrid.

"Years ago, he took me to Real Madrid's training ground," Mbappe told AS.

"He was the first to pick me up and take me to Real Madrid, to the training complex. I was 13 or 14; it was ages ago.

"And now he's my national team coach. It's like something out of a movie, but he's top-level."

Mbappe has previously described Zidane as a player who strongly represents French football, and the pair will now begin a new chapter together with the national team.

The France captain admitted there will be an adjustment after working under Deschamps for so long, but believes the squad can quickly adapt to Zidane's methods.

"It's a new phase with a new coach," Mbappe said. "It's going to be a new experience for everyone, since we've only ever had Deschamps.

"It will be a change for us, but I think everything will turn out very well."

Zidane's first match in charge comes against Turkey in the Nations League on Friday, before France face Belgium and Italy.
