Milos Kerkez seals Liverpool move in bold transfer coup from Bournemouth

The Reds negotiated a fee of 40 million pounds, down from Bournemouth's initial 45-million-pound valuation, thanks to sporting director Richard Hughes leveraging his past ties with the Cherries.

The 21-year-old, who attracted interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City, emerged as Liverpool's prime target to provide long-term competition for Andy Robertson.

In his first interview with the club's official website, Kerkez took a subtle swipe at rivals Manchester United, declaring Liverpool "the biggest club in England."

Kerkez becomes Liverpool's fifth signing of the summer, following goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, right-back Jeremie Frimpong, midfielder Armin Pecsi, and record-breaking 100-million-pound acquisition Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Wirtz deal, potentially rising to 116 million pounds with add-ons, smashed Liverpool's transfer record.
