Mpho Makola backs Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane to shinee at Kaizer Chiefs

Though Chiefs have yet to make any official announcement, reports suggest both players have agreed terms after being released by Pirates.

Chiefs are set to begin their pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, with Mako and Monyane expected to join.

Mako, a seasoned left-back, is believed to have signed a three-year deal effective from July 1. He will face stiff competition from Bradley Cross and Happy Mashiane for a starting berth.

Monyane, a right-back, joins a position already featuring Dillan Solomons and Reeve Frosler, but he is eager to bounce back after an injury-hit season.

The move has sparked mixed reactions among Amakhosi fans, particularly after Bongani Sam - another ex-Pirates player - struggled to impress. However, Makola remains confident the duo will succeed at Naturena.

Speaking to FARPost, Makola says it's unfortunate that they left Pirates, but he believes Amakhosi will benefit from both players.

"The level of competition at Pirates is high, but that doesn't mean they aren't good enough. Some players are always going to be sacrificed," he said.

Makola believes both players possess the mentality needed to thrive under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.

"Chiefs need players with a winning mindset and never-say-die attitude. This is a brilliant move," he concluded.

Last season, Mako featured in only 12 league matches, while Monyane - who also made 12 appearances - struggled to dislodge Deano van Rooyen, who joined Pirates from Stellenbosch FC.

With fresh starts at Naturena, both players will be keen to revive their careers.
