Richards Bay FC aim high while staying true to their roots
Richards Bay FC are dreaming big ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season - but without losing sight of their identity.
The Mswenko Boys secured their promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship via the promotion/relegation play-offs at the expense of Cape Town City.
The relegated Citizens are seemingly on the lookout for a quick way back into the South African top-flight and are believed to have approached Orbit about aquiring their status, having already been rejected by TS Galaxy.
Makhoye though says it makes no sense for his team to sell when they worked so hard for promotion.
He told Radio 2000: "Why would we bring [Monnapule] Saleng on loan if we are selling the status? There's no way.
"Orbit is not going anywhere, we have worked hard to promote the team for the past 15 years. We wanted to make sure that we have a professional team in the North West province.
“And we also wanted to show the whole country that there's talent in the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) sector and now that we are here, we will never sell the status and the team not going anywhere.”
