Last season, Huijsen was also in the running for the Premier League's equivalent young player award, which Liverpool's Ryan Gravenberch ultimately won.
This time, the PFA have shortlisted Huijsen alongside Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly, Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez, Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri, and Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers.
The PFA award, distinct in its criteria from the Premier League's version, highlights players based on votes from fellow professionals, adding extra prestige to the accolade.
"Dean have shown incredible maturity for their age," said former Premier League defender Gary Neville on Sky Sports. "Their ability to read the game and dominate in duels makes them a standout."
