Report: Golden Arrows sign FC Ravens forward Mnqobi Gumede

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit are bracing for what is expected to be a demanding season after earning a place in the MTN8. Arrows achieved that feat by finishing sixth in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership standings, collecting 41 points from 30 league fixtures, and will now face a busier schedule with additional competitions on the calendar.

As part of preparations for the challenges ahead, the club has turned to youth by bringing in the 21-year-old forward from FC Ravens.

Gumede has penned a three-year agreement with Abafana Bes'thende, with the contract also containing a further two-year option.

The move represents a significant step up in the attacker's career, as he makes the transition from South Africa's third tier to the top flight.

During his time with FC Ravens, who compete in the Eastern Cape division of the ABC Motsepe League, Gumede established himself as one of the side's most reliable sources of goals.

He was also involved in the club's recent ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs campaign. Although FC Ravens were unable to progress beyond the group phase, Gumede's performances attracted attention.

Meanwhile, Arrows' restructuring is expected to continue, with Brandon Theron, Keenan Phillips, Sanele Shabalala, Gladwin Shitolo, Sazi Gumbi and Nduduzo Mhlongo all tipped to depart.
