Stormers lock in Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu with long-term contract extension

Netwerk24 reports that the 23-year-old has extended his contract by two years beyond the original 2027 expiry, securing a key piece of John Dobson's long-term puzzle as he looks to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level for the remainder of the decade.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu is regarded as one of the brightest young stars in world rugby, having been nominated for the 2024 Breakthrough Player of the Year award following his first eight Tests for the Springboks. He has since added three more caps in 2025 and is currently part of South Africa's touring squad for the Rugby Championship in New Zealand.

His commitment is a huge lift for the Stormers as they embark on "Project 2029," a long-term vision led by Dobson and former Leinster CEO Mick Dawson to establish the Cape franchise as a powerhouse in both the URC and Champions Cup.

"We have an incredible generation of young players. The Western Province U21 team has won the provincial tournament for the past two seasons and is currently top of the log again," Dobson said earlier this year. "We are very keen to keep the core of the current group together."

With Manie Libbok heading to Japan at the end of this season, Feinberg-Mngomezulu is expected to take ownership of the Stormers' No. 10 jersey, his preferred position, and become central to the team's future ambitions.

The news follows confirmation that Springbok prop Wilco Louw will join the Stormers from the Bulls on a four-year deal starting in 2026/27, while Cheslin Kolbe has also been linked with a return once his Japanese contract concludes.

Meanwhile, veteran Bok Deon Fourie is preparing to return from injury for Western Province this weekend, with the 38-year-old hooker set for his 99th provincial cap against the Pumas.
