Teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi powers ruthless Rajasthan Royals to victory

Winning the toss and taking advantage of the heavy overhead conditions, Rajasthan bowled out CSK for 128 before being ruthless with the bat.

In the chase, teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took the fight to the CSK attack from the first over, as he clobbered Matt Henry for the first of his five sixes. The 15-year-old sensation kept the boundaries coming and smashed his way to a 15-ball 50 with back-to-back sixes in just the sixth over.

Two balls later, Sooryavanshi was taken at deep extra cover, but at 75/1, the match was already over as a contest. CSK celebrated once more with the wicket of Dhruv Jurel (18 off 9). Rajasthan opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was steady for his 38 not out, guiding the blues home in style.

Earlier, Rajasthan seamers Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer used the favourable conditions to their advantage. With the ball swinging, they had CSK reeling at 19/3 in the fourth over, with India’s T20 World Cup warrior Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad both back in the hut for six apiece.

Sarfaraz Khan injected some much-needed impetus with a few swashbuckling boundaries, but the crafty Ravindra Jadeja trapped him in front for 17 off 12 balls. And when the big-hitting Shivam Dube holed out in the deep in the same over, Rajasthan were wavering at 57/6 in the eighth over.

CSK finally found their hero in Jamie Overton. The bowling all-rounder stood tall while wickets fell around him and opened up his large shoulders in the final throes of the innings to top score with 43 from 36 before being run out, giving his team something to bowl at.
