Thabang Rooi explains why Thabo Moloisane is the right fit for Kaizer Chiefs

Chiefs recently completed the signing of the 27-year-old centre-back, making him their first arrival of the transfer window after an impressive campaign in which he made 33 appearances for Stellenbosch across all competitions and earned a senior Bafana Bafana call-up.

Rooi believes Moloisane's performances last season prove he is ready for the step up to one of South Africa's biggest clubs.

"I think it is a good move. Based on his performances for Stellenbosch FC last season and how that got him a national team call-up speaks to the quality of Moloisane," the ex-Amakhosi defender told Soccer Laduma.

"Considering how Given Msimango was converted from a centre-back to a right-back at Chiefs, Moloisane will fit in the club's defensive system."

Moloisane joins a Chiefs squad that already boasts experienced centre-backs in Inacio Miguel, Zitha Kwinika and Rushwin Dortley, ensuring competition for places will be fierce this season.

His arrival also gives the Soweto giants added depth at the back as they look to improve on last season and challenge for honours in the 2026/27 campaign.

Having established himself as one of the Betway Premiership's most consistent defenders during his time at Stellenbosch, Moloisane now has the opportunity to prove he can produce the same level of performances in the famous gold and black jersey where there will be a lot of expectations from him.
