After an incredible start to the season, in which the Stormers won 10 straight games in the United Rugby Championship and Champions Cup, the Cape side has lost their last three games on the bounce - all to South African rivals.
Their struggles have been characterised by a notable dip in form from their star fly-half, who has been guilty of unforced errors and, perhaps, trying to do too much on his own to force a change in fortunes.
The Stormers' hierarchy even decided to take the captaincy away from Feinberg-Mngomezulu to take some responsibility off his shoulders and allow him to get back to just playing rugby.
However, Tony Brown is not worried about Feinberg-Mngomezulu and is confident he will get back to his best sooner rather than later.
"I'll give him a cuddle, he'll be OK," Brown told the media.
"In the Springbok environment, the way we train, the way we play and the way we use every player to do his job, he fits in and it's easy for him.
"He understands his role. He doesn't have to do everything on his own. The Stormers are in a bit of a slump and he's probably trying to do too much by himself.
"If I have to say something to him, it would be: use the players around you more, don't always try to take everyone on yourself."
The Stormers' next assignment is another local derby against the Bulls in the United Rugby Championship.
They will be desperate to get back to winning ways after dropping down to fifth in the standings following three straight defeats and a fit and firing Feinberg-Mngomezulu will go a long way towards helping them return to form.
