Jaden Hendrikse cleared of serious injury after scary stretcher exit

The 20-cap Springbok was forced to leave the field at Loftus Versfeld just 27 minutes into Saturday's United Rugby Championship clash after suffering a head knock in a tackle.

Following the incident, the 25-year-old was taken to hospital for precautionary scans. The Sharks later confirmed that while no major damage was found, Hendrikse did sustain a concussion.

With the Sharks not back in action for another three weeks - when they face Munster - Hendrikse is expected to be available, provided he completes the standard return-to-play procedures.

"Jaden Hendrikse underwent precautionary medical scans after being stretchered from the field," the Sharks wrote in an update on social media.

"We are pleased to confirm that the scans have cleared him of any serious injury. Jaden sustained a concussion and will now follow the standard return-to-play protocols under the guidance of our Sharks medical team.

"He is grateful for all the messages of support he has received."

The news will also come as a boost for South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus, who named Hendrikse in the Springbok alignment camp squad scheduled to begin in Cape Town from Tuesday.
