Nahid Rana fiver helps Bangladesh to series-leveling ODI win against New Zealand

After being told to bowl at the toss, Nahid was brilliant as the seamer returned figures of 5-32 in 10 overs as the Black Caps were bowled out for just 198 in 48.4 overs.

Opener Nick Kelly was the top-scorer for the visitors with a solid 83 from 102 balls but received no support from the rest of the batting order with the next best coming from Muhammad Abbas with 19 while Nathan Smith ran out of partners to be 18 not out.

Bangladesh put in a disciplined bowling effort with fellow seamer Shoriful Islam taking 2-32 from his allotted overs while Tasking Ahmed took 1-46.

The home team then slipped to 21-2 in the run-chase but Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto then added a valuable partnership of 120 for the third wicket.

Tanzid went on to score 76 while Shanto hit exactly 50 as the Tigers moved closer to the target but both players were dismissed.

Towhid Hridoy then struck an unbeaten 30 while captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz was 8 not out as Bangladesh finished the contest in the 36th over.

The third and deciding ODI of the series will be played in Chattogram on Thursday.
