The 26-year-old had a great performance with three shots at goal while providing the assist for Ransford Konigsdorffer's opener just before half-time.

"I've always wanted to play in the Bundesliga," said Otele to Mopo after the match.

"The coaches told me what to do. I should stay connected, push forward, and show my strengths. The most important message was that I should enjoy myself."

The forward joined the German side on loan until the end of the season from Swiss giants Basel during the recent winter transfer window and Hamburg have the option to buy.

"I spoke with many players [before my move]," added Otele.

"They all had only positive things to say. I watched a few YouTube videos of the team. And videos of the fans. That's when I thought: Okay, this seems like a really great club."

The former Al-Wahda striker will be hoping to continue from his good start and seal a Super Eagles debut, after having missed out on the recent 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, despite being named in the preliminary squad.
