SA20: Pretoria Capitals appoint international legends on coaching staff

The two former internationals will take up their positions ahead of the fourth season of the SA20 that kicks off on Boxing Day this year.

Ganguly replaces Jonathan Trott, who served as the Capitals' head coach for one season and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

It will be the first head coaching role for the 53-year-old Ganguly since he retired from international cricket in 2008, having served as BCCI president from 2019 to 2022.

The former left-handed batter also previously served as a mentor for Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals.

"The Prince is all set to bring a royal flair to the Capitals camp! We are ecstatic to announce Sourav Ganguly as our new head coach," Pretoria Capitals posted on social media.

Pollock played 108 Test matches, 303 ODIs and 12 T20Is for the Proteas, taking 829 wickets across formats in international cricket.

The Capitals have already signed England's Will Jacks and West Indies duo Sherfane Rutherford and Andre Russell ahead of the new season.

The franchise will be looking to refresh their squad to complement the appointment of the new coaching staff with a mega player auction taking place on 9 September.
