The Buccaneers unveiled the Norwegian striker this week, with the forward expected to add a clinical edge to Pirates' attack. The move comes after none of the club's recognised strikers - Evidence Makgopa, Boitumelo Radiopane and Yanela Mbuthuma - managed to score at least 10 goals in all competitions last season.
Speaking during Pirates' media open day at Rand Stadium on Tuesday, Ouaddou explained that Pedersen fits the profile the club had been searching for.
"I think the scouting department of the club was looking for a profile that can help us increase our conversion rate," said Ouaddou.
"As you know, last season we were the team on the continent with the best average of chances created. We have some very good players, but we needed a finisher."
The Pirates coach also revealed that Pedersen joined the squad during their pre-season tour of Spain, allowing the technical team to assess him and begin integrating him into the group.
"The scouting department identified his profile, we studied him, and I think he's someone who can bring freshness to the team. He is a quality player, and that's why it was important for us to have him with us for a couple of days in Spain so that we could start integrating him," he added.
"You can be a good player, but when you arrive in a new environment, it's important to make the transition as easy as possible and help you settle into the group."
