Abdeslam Ouaddou resigns as Marumo Gallants head coach

The Moroccan tactician took charge in March and steered the team to safety in the league. Under his leadership, Gallants played 12 games, winning five, drawing four, and losing just three, ultimately finishing 10th - just one point shy of Richards Bay in eighth.

Despite the positive turnaround, Ouaddou confirmed his departure on Saturday in a heartfelt press release.

"I would like to announce with this press release the end of the adventure with the Marumo Gallants club," he wrote.

"It has been a great pleasure to have collaborated with all the resources of the club. I would like to thank first of all my players, my President, as well as all the stakeholders of the club who participated from near or far in this mission to save the club, without forgetting our magnificent supporters."

Ouaddou also paid tribute to the people of Bloemfontein, and says he is open to new opportunities.

"The people of Bloemfontein will remain in my heart forever. I wish the best to Marumo Gallants as wll as to my players. I love you guys," sqd Ouaddou.

"I obviously remain open to any proposal for an ambitious project and determined to take on a new challenge," he concluded.

His departure leaves Marumo Gallants searching for a new head coach ahead of the next Betway Premiership season.
