Marcelo Allende's FIFA Club World Cup showings spark renewed Chile dream
Marcelo Allende's journey from South America to the heart of Tshwane was never just about club football - it was always about reigniting a dream.
Sundowns impressed on the global stage, holding Brazilian champions Fluminense to a draw, narrowly losing 4-3 to European heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, and sealing a 1-0 win over South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai.
The performances turned heads internationally and reinforced the club's growing reputation beyond Africa.
Modise, who lifted the CAF Champions League trophy with Sundowns in 2016, praised the team's composure and mentality throughout the tournament.
"This is where we belong. We need to come back here, but there's still a lot of work to be done - not just by the players, but by everyone involved. I'm incredibly proud," said Modise on the Pitchside Podcast.
"We played our way. There was no panic, no stress - just pure Sundowns football. That's the standard we need to maintain."
Domestically, Sundowns remain the undisputed powerhouse of South African football, having clinched their eighth consecutive Betway Premiership title this past season.
Now, Modise hopes their Club World Cup experience can serve as a launchpad for greater success on and off the pitch.
"My hope is that this journey motivates every member of the team. If we learn from it and come back stronger, the sky's the limit," he concluded.
