Africa World Cup Qualifiers wrap - Algeria secure World Cup final place

Burundi 0-1 Kenya

Kenya defeated Burundi 1-0 in their deadrubber World Cup qualifying match at the Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium on Thursday.

Both sides' were out of contention for the quadrennial tournament before this week of matches - with the result leaving Kenya in third place with 12 points from nine games and Burundi down in fifth place with 10 points.

Ryan Ogam scored the only goal of the game after 72 minutes, against the ten men of Burundi after Bonfilis-Caleb Bimenyimana was dismissed after just after five minutes.

Liberia 3-1 Namibia

Liberia beat Namibia 3-1 in their Group H clash with goals from Ayouba Kosiah (3' P),  Sulahmana Mamadu Bah (9') and Edward Ledium (81').

David Ndeunyema netted an 87th minute consolation goal for Namibia.

Namibia ended the afternoon in second place with 15 points, seven points adrift of leaders Tunisia, and one point clear of Liberia in third.

Mozambique 1-2 Guinea

Guinea overcame Mozambique 2-1 at Estádio do Zimpeto on Thursday.

Abdul Karim Traore opened the scoring after just two minutes. Reinildo Mandava leveled with his goal on 19 minutes but Traore sealed all three points with his second goal of the game on 59 minutes.

Mozambique, in third place, have 15 points from nine game, and Guinea are on 14 points in fourth place. Algeria are the group winners with 22 points.

Somalia 0-3 Algeria

Algeria secured their place at the World Cup finals with a 3-0 win over Somalia on Thursday.

Mohamed Amoura (7', 57') scored a brace, and Riyad Mahrez (19') added a third goal for a comprehensive win at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium.

Algeria top Group G with 22 points from nine games and left Somalia bottom of the standings with one point.

Botswana 0-1 Uganda

Uganda recorded a 1-0 win over Botswana in their penultimate World Cup qualifier at Francistown Stadium.

Jude Ssemugabi netted the only goal of the game after 54 minutes.

With the win, Uganda moved onto 18 points in second place, and left Botswana in fifth place with nine points.
