Captain Son Heung-min: Ange Postecoglou is a Tottenham 'legend'
Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has hailed Ange Postecoglou as a "legend" who "changed the trajectory of this club" after the 59-year-old manager was sacked on Friday.
Spurs lifted their first major silverware since 2008 with a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday, capping a dramatic turnaround for a side that had found itself 17th in the Premier League earlier this season.
Yet, just days after the club's open-top bus parade, Postecoglou revealed he has had no discussions with chairman Daniel Levy or the board about what lies ahead.
"I haven't had any discussions with the club," the 59-year-old said in a Saturday press conference. "Maybe they were waiting for the dust to settle, but I haven't heard anything."
Postecoglou, who signed a four-year deal upon joining Spurs in June 2023, had predicted earlier in the campaign that his teams typically deliver silverware in their second season - a promise he has now fulfilled. However, when pressed on whether he expects to be in charge next season, his response was ambiguous.
"I assume at some point somebody will tell me something," he said. "If not, I'll just roll up like George Costanza and keep doing the job."
Despite the uncertainty, the Australian emphasized his belief in the squad's trajectory, praising the mentality shift within the club following their European success.
"I'm not going to put a limit on what we can achieve. We've shown what's possible," he said. "Winning changes the club - the players now know what it takes."
Postecoglou also encouraged his players to fully enjoy their achievement, acknowledging the value of celebration as part of building a winning culture.
"It's important to mark the moment properly," he added. "When I ask them to climb the mountain again, they need to remember why it's worth it."
Tottenham close out their Premier League season on Sunday at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. While focus may be shifting to the next campaign, all eyes remain on whether Spurs will officially back the man who just brought them a long-awaited taste of glory.
