Fawaaz Basadien addresses transfer speculation amid interest from "big teams"

The 28-year-old left-back enjoyed an outstanding season with Stellies, making 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing eight assists.

His impact was crucial in the club's historic run to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals, where they were ultimately knocked out by Tanzania's Simba SC.

In the recently concluded Betway Premiership season, Basadien played a key role in helping Steve Barker's side secure an impressive third-place finish with 48 points from 28 games, ensuring their return to continental competition next season.

Speaking about the transfer speculation, Basadien acknowledged that, while he dreams of playing for one of the so-called "big teams" to further his growth and development, his current focus remains squarely on Stellenbosch FC and his daily improvement as a player.

"For me, it's about focusing on what I can control. Obviously, the rumours and interest are nice to have as a player, but my main focus is to use every opportunity I get to play and to keep improving every day," he was quoted by FarPost.

"Whatever happens in the background is part of the game. But as a player, there comes a time when you want to achieve greater things, maybe play for a big team or make a big move."

"It's about timing - when the time is right for you. But right now, I'm focused on continuing to play and get better," he added.

Basadien captained  Bafana Bafana in a friendly game against Tanzania last Friday.
