Hailed as a "big talent" by manager Mikel Arteta, the young midfielder has drawn early comparisons to Gunners captain Martin Odegaard.
Arteta has publicly praised Dowman on several occasions, highlighting his "unbelievable" quality for someone so young.
Despite his rapid rise, Dowman's progress has been curtailed by Premier League regulations. League rules stipulate that players must have been at least 15 years old at the start of the season to be eligible for first-team action.
As a result, Dowman, who did not meet that age requirement in time, will be unable to make his senior debut until next season.
In the meantime, the promising youngster continues to feature for Arsenal’s youth sides, maintaining his development under the watchful eye of the club's coaching staff.
His presence in first-team training is seen as a clear indication of the club’s high hopes for his future.
"We have a lot of options there [in attacking midfield], Mikel [Merino] can play in that position, Declan [Rice], we have Ethan [Nwaneri] there in his main position," said Arteta.
"We have players that can play in that position, we have Max [Dowman] coming up very soon as well, so I think we are good in the position."
Asked about next season, Arteta added: "For the near future, yeah, let's see how this evolves, but we certainly have a big talent there."
