Mofokeng and club teammate Makgopa were instrumental in securing qualification to the Round of 32 for South Africa in their first start at the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament.
The duos performance has drawn praise from former Buccaneer striker Benni McCarthy, who believes their combination in the attacking third paid dividends for the Southern African giants.
"I think he [Makgopa] was the focal point for South Africa," said the former Porto star.
"He didn't really allow the Korean defence a lot of breathing space because him and Rele [Mofokeng], they kind of worked really well together as a two. You saw when they were pressing with Rele – they were side to side. So, when the ball goes to the left, Evidence goes out and Rele tucks in and then they kept working well."
"So, Rele because he was playing closer to Evidence, he had a lot of free-range passes when he picked up the ball, he could have time and pick his spot which was fantastic."
Makgopa and Mofokeng will be largely expected to start again and play a decisive role when Bafana Bafana face Canada in the Round of 32 clash on Sunday.
