Benin coach Gernot Rohr said he was proud of his players despite their 3-1 defeat to Egypt in their Africa Cup of Nations last 16 clash on Monday.
Benin defender Yohan Roche signs for Greek Super League side Iraklis Thessaloniki
The 29-year-old centre-back has signed a one-year contract following his departure from Romanian Liga I club FC Petrolul Ploiesti.
Roche has played across several European leagues, having come through the youth ranks at French side Villefranche before moving to Stade de Reims B.
He played a key role at Rodez, helping the club win the Championnat National title and secure promotion to Ligue 2.
After spending two seasons in Turkey with Adanaspor, Roche returned to France to join Quevilly-Rouen Metropole.
The defender made more than 50 appearances in all competitions for Ploiesti before earning international recognition at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored the winning goal against Botswana to secure Benin's first-ever victory at the tournament.
