Bournemouth land goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea

Petrovic initially made waves in the MLS with New England Revolution before earning a 14 million pound move to Chelsea two years ago. Despite showing promise, particularly during Mauricio Pochettino's tenure, Petrovic found opportunities limited as new manager Enzo Maresca backed Robert Sanchez as his first-choice keeper.

That decision led to Petrovic heading out on loan to Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg, where he seized the chance to shine. In a standout season, he kept 10 clean sheets in 31 appearances and was ultimately named the club's Player of the Season. Strasbourg's impressive seventh-place finish secured a spot in next season's Europa Conference League, with Petrovic a key factor in that success.

Despite his resurgence in France, Petrovic's Chelsea future appeared sealed when he was omitted from the Club World Cup squad, signalling the end of his time at Stamford Bridge.

Now, the Serbia international - who has seven caps to his name - is set for a new chapter on the south coast with Bournemouth.

"I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level," Petrovic said after the deal was confirmed. "Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day, and be a better player."

Petrovic arrives as a key reinforcement after Kepa Arrizabalaga's loan stint ended without a permanent move, with the Spaniard instead opting for Arsenal. He becomes Bournemouth's second signing under manager Andoni Iraola, following the arrival of left-back Adrien Truffert from Rennes.

With proven experience across Europe and a hunger to establish himself in the Premier League, Petrovic could prove a crucial addition for the Cherries as they look to climb the table in the upcoming season.
