Leon made an immediate impact following his arrival from Colombian side Independiente Medellin, scoring 15 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions for the Brazilians.
The 25-year-old also played a key role in Sundowns' successful CAF Champions League campaign as the club secured its second continental crown and ended a 10-year wait to lift Africa's biggest club prize.
Having quickly adapted to South African football, Leon believes there is still plenty of room for improvement and has challenged himself to surpass his goalscoring numbers next season.
"Next season, I want to score more goals than I did this season. If I scored 15 in half a season, I know I can do much better in a full one. I want to help the team win more trophies. It is going to be an exciting season for us," Leon was quoted as saying in the club's digital magazine.
"These five months [in South Africa] have been incredible. Playing in the PSL and the CAF Champions League was different from anything I have experienced."
Leon also reflected on Sundowns' journey to continental glory, admitting that away matches presented some of the toughest challenges during their Champions League campaign.
"Away games were the toughest because you need extra energy, extra focus and extra heart. Winning the CAF Champions League feels surreal. To help bring the trophy back after ten years, that was our biggest dream. Everyone is happy. Everyone worked for this," he said.
Despite their continental success, Sundowns surrendered the Betway Premiership title to Orlando Pirates last season.
Leon and his teammates will now be determined to reclaim the domestic crown while building on their Champions League triumph and challenging for more trophies in the new campaign.
