Brighton reject two offers for Joao Pedro amid Chelsea, Newcastle interest

The Seagulls are holding out for at least 60 million pounds for the 23-year-old Brazilian, who joined from Watford last summer in a then-club record 30 million pounds deal. While the bidding clubs have not been officially named, both Chelsea and Newcastle are understood to be front-runners in the race to sign the striker.

Pedro impressed in his debut top-flight season, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 27 Premier League appearances. However, he was omitted from the squad on the final day of the campaign by new manager Fabian Hurzeler following a disciplinary issue - a move that has added further uncertainty over his long-term future at the Amex.

Despite the setback, Pedro remains a valuable asset for Brighton, but sources suggest he is open to a move - particularly one offering Champions League football.

Chelsea are eyeing Pedro as a potential successor to Christopher Nkunku, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer despite taking part in the Club World Cup. The Blues are also in advanced talks to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as they aim to strengthen their forward line under Enzo Maresca.

Newcastle, too, are in the market for attacking reinforcements as they prepare for European football next season. Liverpool maintain a long-standing interest in Pedro but are not currently pursuing a move.

Brighton are under no pressure to sell, and with three years remaining on Pedro’s contract, the club is expected to stand firm unless their valuation is met.

With weeks remaining in the transfer window and several top clubs circling, the situation around Pedro is one to watch closely as the summer market develops.
