Bundesliga: Bayern Munich comeback to hammer Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund drop points

Bayern Munich thrashed SC Freiburg 6-2 at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday with Borussia Dortmund dropping points for the second consecutive Bundesliga match with a 3-3 draw against VfB Stuttgart.

France winger Micheal Olise took centre stage with two goals and three assists as the Bavarians came back from two goals down within the first twenty minutes to score six unanswered goals.

The visitors started brightly, threatening the Bayern defence from early on before Yuito Suzuki (13'] and then a header from Johan Manzambi (18') put Freiburg two goals up.

Bayern responded through Lennart Karl four minutes later before Olise levelled the score in additional time to send the match into half-time at 2-2.

The home side came out firing in the second half, taking the lead in the 56th minute through Dayot Upamecano after having had a goal disallowed a few minutes earlier.

Vincent Kompany's side controlled the rest of the match with Harry Kane scoring a fourth at the hour-mark before substitute Nicolas Jackson put the game result beyond doubt in the 78th minute.

The sensational Olise put the icing on the cake as Bayern continued their excellent form in the Bundesliga whilst Freiburg remain 11th on the table.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund were held to their second draw in a row following a six-goal thriller against VfB Stuttgart at the Signal Iduna Park.

The BVB went ahead through captain Emre Can's 34th-minute penalty following a VAR review prior to Maximilian Beier executing sharp finish to double the lead four minutes before half time.

The visitors pulled one back through hat-trick hero Deniz Undaz shortly after the restart before VAR cancelled a potential Dortmund goal in the 56th-minute.

Undav levelled the score after a Maximilian Mittelsdadt assist in the 71st-minute to set up a thrilling finale, however, a late Karim Adeyemi strike was cancelled out by Undav in injury time as the score ended 3-3.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt continued their good run of form after beating FC Koln 4-3 at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday.

The home side Koln scored first in the 6th-minute through Jakub Kaminski, but the visitors responded with two goals from Arthur Theate (39') and Mahmoud Dahoud (45+6) to take a 2-1 lead into half-time.

Frankfurt raced to a 4-1 lead at the hour mark through a Jonathan Burkardt brace before a late rally from Koln resulted Marius Butler (83') and Luca Waldschmidt (90+4') adding some respectability to the scoreline.

In an earlier match, second placed Bayer Leverkusen eased to a comfortable 3-1 victory away to VfL Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.

The visitors raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Jonas Hofmann (9'), Edmond Tapsoba (24') and Malik Tilman (33).

Wolfsburg came out looking threatening in the second half and were rewarded when Denis Vavro headed home with aplomb from a Maximilian Arnold corner kick.

However, Leverkusen produced a disciplined performance to close out the result and to remain in second spot on the table.

At the Voith-Arena, Borussia Monchengladbach defeated bottom-placed Heidenheim 3-0 to extend their winning streak to three Bundesliga matches.

A late first half penalty by Kevin Diks put Gladbach in control before Haris Tabakovic (55') added a second prior to substitute Shuto Machino (76') put the match beyond doubt with a third.

Elsewhere, ten-man Augsburg defeated Hamburger SV 1-0 at the WWK Arena on Saturday courtesy of a 76-minute goal from Anton Kade before Keven Schlotterbeck's sending off five minutes later.
