Orbit College take massive step towards promotion after beating Casric Stars
Orbit College took a massive towards playing top-flight football after securing a 1-0 victory against Casric Stars in the promotion/relegation playoffs.
The Citizens, looking to secure their top-flight status, started brightly and took the lead midway through the first half. Prins Tjiueza found the back of the net in the 27th minute, giving Cape Town City a valuable advantage.
Goalkeeper Darren Keet was instrumental in keeping the Stars at bay in the opening stages, making crucial saves to deny Decide Chauke.
Despite City's attempts to extend their lead in the second half through players like Jaedin Rhodes and Siphamandla Dondolo, Casric Stars remained a persistent threat.
The home side continued to push forward, with Chauke proving particularly troublesome for the Cape Town City defense.
The pressure eventually told in dramatic fashion. Deep into stoppage time, in the 90+7th minute, Casric Stars were awarded a penalty.
Chauke stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, levelling the score and denying Cape Town City maximum points.
This result leaves both teams with one point in the mini-league format of the playoffs, as both had previously drawn against Orbit College. Orbit College currently leads the table with two points.
