Cedric Kaze praises Asanele Velebayi's influence after Kaizer Chiefs edge Durban City

Chiefs returned to winning ways after enduring a four-match winless run, with Glody Lilepo producing a moment of brilliance in the second half to secure maximum points for the Soweto giants at FNB Stadium.

Kaze was satisfied with the overall performance of his side, believing they were in control for most of the contest despite a tense finish late in the match.

"I think it's a game we controlled pretty well since the first minute. I would say just in the last five minutes we put ourselves into trouble by going back and allowing them to have a lot of throws and set-pieces, but it's three points we plainly deserved," Kaze told SuperSport after the match.

The coach added that the victory should help restore confidence within the squad as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.

"We're going to work from that. It's going to give everyone confidence and serenity to go back to work and have a good performance in the next game," he said.

Kaze felt his side controlled possession during the opening half but lacked urgency and penetration in the final third.

"I think in the first half we had control of the game, but we weren't good enough in the spaces going forward. We took too much time moving the ball from side to side, which allowed the opponents to shift."

Looking to add more attacking threat, the technical team introduced Velebayi at the start of the second half.

Kaze believes the winger's direct approach helped Chiefs become more dangerous in attack, as his ability to take on defenders and deliver crosses stretched the opposition and opened up spaces going forward.
