Chelsea hit with 10 million pounds fine after admitting rule breaches

The FA confirmed on Friday that the Premier League club accepted the charges after the club's current owners self-reported the misconduct following their takeover of Chelsea.

An independent Regulatory Commission had originally imposed a suspended six-point deduction along with the financial penalty. However, Chelsea appealed against the points deduction, and an independent Appeal Board replaced it with a suspended ban on registering players for two consecutive transfer windows.

The transfer ban will remain suspended until June 30, 2027, meaning Chelsea will only face the sanction if they commit further breaches during that period.

In a statement, the FA said: "The FA charged Chelsea FC with 74 breaches of FA Rule E1.2 after its current ownership self-reported misconduct upon its purchase of the club. The FA is continuing to investigate individual misconduct arising out of this case."

The governing body added: "Chelsea FC admitted to the 74 breaches of FA Rule E1.2 prior to a hearing and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed a six-point deduction, which was to be suspended until 30 June 2027, and a 10 million pounds fine."

The FA explained that Chelsea successfully appealed the suspended points deduction.

"The club appealed against the suspended points deduction and an independent Appeal Board allowed the appeal and set aside this sanction following a further hearing. In its place, the Appeal Board imposed a registration ban for two complete and consecutive transfer windows which is suspended until 30 June 2027."

The FA also confirmed that the financial penalty will remain in place, saying: "The 10 million pounds fine imposed by the Regulatory Commission was not subject to appeal and the full amount will be invested into grassroots football."

The FA also said it is continuing to investigate any individual misconduct connected to the case.
