Copa del Rey: Real Sociedad, Athletic Club and Atletico squeeze into the next round

Real Sociedad 2-2 Osasuna (4-3 on penalties)

Real Sociedad were forced to claw back from two goals down within the first twenty minutes of the encounter with Jon Moncayola putting Osasuna in the lead before Mikel Oyarzabal's own goal doubled the lead.

The home side made substitutions as they tried to find a way back into the match but had to wait until the 75th minute to pull one goal back through midfielder Benat Turrientes.

Sociedad found the equalizer in the second minute of additional time through veteran midfielder Igor Zubeldia to force the match into extra-time.

Oyarzabal's misery continued as he missed a penalty at the end of the first half of extra-time, but he would go onto redeem himself by scoring in the penalty shoot-out to advance to the quarterfinals.

Elsewhere, ten-man Athletic Club struggled to defeat Segunda Division side Cultural Leonesa 4-3 after having to come back from behind on three occasions during the match.

A 56th minute red card in the second half to Athletic Club's Aitor Paredes put the game in the balance for the La Liga side, but they managed to hang on and force the match into extra time.

The visitors finally took the lead through their second penalty of the match, with Unai Gomez converting from the spot shortly before the end of the first half of extra-time.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid edged Deportivo 1-0 in the final Round of 16 clash on Tuesday evening courtesy of an Antoine Griezmann 61st minute free kick.
