Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner linked with a Bundesliga return at Bayer Leverkusen

The Austrian has emerged as the leading candidate for the role after Leverkusen's first-choice option, Filipe Luis, appears set to join AS Monaco instead. German outlet Bild reports that negotiations with Glasner's camp are progressing positively, and discussions are expected to intensify in the coming days.

Glasner is understood to be interested in a return to the Bundesliga, where he previously enjoyed successful spells with Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. His strong reputation in Germany, combined with his recent achievements in England, has made him Leverkusen's preferred option as the club prepares for a new era.

The 51-year-old is currently preparing to leave Crystal Palace after guiding the club to one of the biggest moments in its history. Glasner led Palace to a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night in the UEFA Conference League final, securing the club's first-ever European trophy and qualification for next season's Europa League.

Leverkusen are keen to finalise their managerial situation quickly as uncertainty continues around Kasper Hjulmand's future. Although Hjulmand remains under contract until 2027, the club is expected to part ways with the Danish coach once an agreement is reached with his successor.

If Leverkusen fail to secure Glasner, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is reportedly being considered as an alternative option.
