Destination Cape Town? Hacjivah Dayimani officially departs Racing 92

The news fuels rumours that the 28-year-old is on the cusp of resigning with the Stormers, where he earned 57 caps from 2021 to 2024. The French club released a statement on Wednesday confirming Dayimani's departure. The mention of his family indicates a return to Cape Town as opposed to another union.

"Racing 92 and Hacjivah Dayimani have mutually agreed to end their partnership," it read.

"This decision, taken for personal reasons, will allow the South African back-row forward to return to South Africa to be with his family. Having always shown exemplary conduct towards the club and his teammates, Racing 92 agreed to facilitate this early departure.

"Having joined the club during the 2024–2025 season, Hacjivah Dayimani wore the Sky and White jersey on 19 occasions.

"Racing 92 thanks Hacjivah Dayimani for his commitment and wishes him all the best for the rest of his career. For his part, Hacjivah thanks Racing 92 for the trust placed in him and wishes the club every success for the remainder of the season."

Dayimani scored three tries for the French outfit during his stay, where he mainly featured at No.8 but had cameos at flanker.

It would be a timely return for the dynamic runner, as there is a growing injury crisis at the Stormers. Loose forward Ruan Ackermann has been ruled out long-term, while locks Salmaan Moerat and Ruben van Heerden are currently sidelined for extended periods.

Springbok utility forward Ben-Jason Dixon is expected to shift to lock from flank to lock role to help cover the shortage.
