Edin Dzeko reveals Kompany's laptop secret ahead of Schalke's Bayern clash

Dzeko and Kompany shared the dressing room at City, where the Belgian was already showing the leadership qualities that have since taken him into management.

The Bosnian striker believes Kompany's success as Bayern coach comes as no surprise.

"What Kompany has already achieved is incredible," Dzeko said.

"He was always a captain and a leader, so none of this surprises me. We used to sit together at the very back of the bus.

"Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov and me. We listened to music and always had a lot of fun together.

"Meanwhile, Kompany would sit there looking at his laptop. 'What are you doing? What are you always studying?' we used to ask him.

"Then, when he got Burnley promoted as a manager, I texted him: 'Brate (brother), now I understand'."

Dzeko said Kompany's habit of studying on the team bus suddenly made sense once his former team-mate began his coaching career.

The Schalke striker is also relishing the chance to catch up with the Bayern boss, although he joked that Kompany may not be quite as relaxed as he was during their playing days.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him," Dzeko said. "Hopefully, he won't take things quite so seriously on Saturday."

Bayern, the reigning Bundesliga champions, travel to Gelsenkirchen to face Schalke, who won the second division last season.
