Makgalwa has been a key player for Babina Noko this season following his arrival in July 2024.
The former Sundowns attacker has made 26 league appearances, scoring four goals and providing 11 assists - the most in the league. Across all competitions, he has featured in 32 games and netted six times.
While Makgalwa has earned praise for his creativity and work rate, Tinkler believes Ribeiro's goal-scoring numbers make him a frontrunner for the league's top individual accolade.
"I think if you look at the statistics, Keletso is the player with the most assists in the league. So, that could be taken into consideration," Tinkler told FarPost.
"However, I haven't looked at all the other stats to compare. We know the boy (Ribeiro) at Mamelodi Sundowns has a lot of assists himself, and also a lot of goals. So, if I had to choose, I would go with Ribeiro because of the number of goals he's scored."
Ribeiro, who joined Sundowns at the start of the season, has been in lethal form. The Brazilian forward currently shares the top scorer spot with teammate Iqraam Rayners, both sitting on 14 league goals. He also has nine assists to his name.
Overall, Ribeiro has featured in 46 matches across all competitions for Sundowns, scoring 17 goals and playing a pivotal role in their league campaign.
Despite favouring Ribeiro, Tinkler acknowledged that Makgalwa's influence at Sekhukhune shouldn't be overlooked.
