Erling Haaland doubt adds to Man City selection concerns for Liverpool

Erling Haaland doubt adds to Man City selection concerns for Liverpool

Haaland was forced to leave Norway's 2-1 defeat by Portugal at the Estadio do Dragao after pulling up during the second half.

The forward was visibly limping as he made his way off the field after requesting to be substituted. The severity of the problem has yet to be established, leaving his participation against Liverpool in doubt.

The situation could pose a significant problem for City, who do not have a recognised replacement for Haaland in their squad. The Norwegian had started all four of his country's matches during the previous three weeks before the injury scare.

City will also be without Phil Foden, who is set to serve the final match of his three-game suspension. The England international's ban was imposed following his controversial dismissal in the Manchester derby.

There is more encouraging news regarding Antoine Semenyo, however. The forward pulled out of Ghana's squad because of swelling in his leg, but has now had three weeks to recover and is expected to be available at Anfield.

Nico O'Reilly remains another doubt. The versatile left-back departed England's camp midway through the international break, although the nature of his injury has not been revealed.

He has since returned to City for assessment, with no further update provided on whether he will make the trip to Merseyside.
