Fabian Ruiz returns from injury as PSG gear up for Lorient raid

The 29-year-old Spaniard, a key cog in Luis Enrique's midfield machine, has been sidelined for over a month by a nagging groin injury picked up during PSG's gritty 2-1 Champions League triumph over Barcelona on October 1.

That setback forced him to sit out four Ligue 1 outings, including recent wins that have the Parisiens purring with back-to-back victories across all fronts.

Ruiz also missed Spain's dominant October World Cup qualifying double-header, where La Roja dismantled Georgia 2-0 and Bulgaria 4-0 to sit pretty atop Group E.

"He's doing fine now," Enrique said ahead of last weekend's fixture, hinting at the midfielder's steady progress. "We'll make a late call on him, but no one's rushing anyone back."

While club sources confirm Ruiz has rejoined the group sessions on Tuesday, alongside compatriot Joao Neves, his spot in the lineup for the Lorient clash remains up in the air. Enrique has stressed caution with his prized asset, who has become indispensable for breaking lines and dictating tempo in PSG's fluid 4-3-3 setup.

The Parisiens, unbeaten in Ligue 1 and chasing a record-extending title charge, will relish any edge against a Lorient side scrapping to climb from the relegation mire. If Ruiz features, expect him to slot straight into that engine room, feeding bullets to the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos up top.
