Fiacre Ntwari gets PSL lifeline as Kruger United bolster squad for debut season

Fiacre Ntwari gets PSL lifeline as Kruger United bolster squad for debut season

The shot-stopper was among nine new signings unveiled by Kruger United as the club continues to strengthen its squad for its maiden campaign in South Africa's top flight.

Ntwari's arrival comes shortly after his departure from Kaizer Chiefs, where he struggled for regular game time following his move to Naturena in 2024. The goalkeeper found opportunities limited as he competed with Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma for the number one jersey.

With the upcoming CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on the horizon, securing consistent minutes at club level became increasingly important for the Rwanda international, making a move away from Amakhosi a logical step.

Kruger United, who secured promotion to the Betway Premiership, have moved aggressively in the transfer market as they aim to establish themselves in the top division.

Alongside Ntwari, the club announced the arrivals of experienced defender Kwanda Mngonyama, Shane Saralina, Phatutshedzo Musekwa, Sanele Tshabalala, Lwanda Mbanjwa, Sikhosonke Langa, Samukelo Zwane and Motsie Matima.

The club also used the occasion to reveal their new kit for the upcoming campaign, signalling the start of a new chapter as they prepare for life among South Africa's elite teams.

In a statement shared on social media, Kruger United welcomed the latest additions to the squad and called on the players to embrace the club's ambitions.

"Kruger United FC proudly unveils our new signings and our official 2026/27 kit as we prepare for an exciting Betway Premiership season," the club wrote on their Facebook page.

"To our new players, welcome to the Village. Wear the badge with pride, play with passion! We are Kruger United FC."

For Ntwari, the move offers more than just a fresh start - it presents an opportunity to re-establish himself in the PSL while keeping his place in Rwanda's national team setup.
