Musonda confirmed his decision on the Rising Ballers podcast, stating that he intends to pursue a different path after struggling to re-establish his career following a long-term injury.
The Belgian joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2012 and was regarded as one of the club's most promising academy players. However, he made only seven senior appearances during a 10-year spell with the club.
Loan moves to Real Betis, Celtic and Vitesse failed to deliver consistent playing time, and a serious knee injury further disrupted his development, sidelining him for two years.
Musonda recalled returning to training with Chelsea's reserves and a brief conversation with then-manager Thomas Tuchel, but a place in the first team never materialised.
"I came back for pre-season, and that's where things got tricky - that was the end of my time at Chelsea," he said.
After leaving Chelsea in 2022, Musonda signed for Spanish second-division side Levante before joining Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta for the 2023–24 season.
He represented Belgium at every youth level from U15 to U21 but never made a senior international appearance.
