Glody Lilepo taking positives from Kaizer Chiefs' Dutch tour

Amakhosi started their pre-season tour of Holland with a narrow 2-1 loss to Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem before a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Utrecht.

They most recently went down 1-0 to NEC Nijmegen and complete their camp with games against PEC Zwolle and FC Twente.

Reflecting on their recent defeat where Japanese striker Koki Ogawa scored the only goal of the game, Lilepo says he's impressed with the progress of the team.

He told the Chiefs' website: "We really played well in our last game.

"So far we have focused a lot on physical training, having two sessions a day. The physical aspect always comes before the tactical and technical aspects of the game. That's typical pre-season."

Lilepo joined Chiefs from Valenciennes in January and has played 19 games in all competitions, scoring six goals, including in their Nedbank Cup final win.

Looking ahead to their next two games, the DR Congo attacker added: "These two games are important. Especially with the Toyota Cup coming up later this month."

He continued: "The preparations in Holland have been very positive. We are training hard to be ready for the upcoming season.

"Besides training hard, soccer is also about discipline, including tactical discipline. If you master that, you will succeed.

"And if you want to challenge for trophies, one needs to have a good pre-season. It's as simple as that, there is no other option. We are gelling nicely as a team, including the new players. I really feel positive looking ahead."
