Golden Arrows sign six players from promoted side
Golden Arrows have signed six players from newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship Midlands Wanderers.
According to Sportswire, Arrows have secured the services of forward Jerome Karelse from Mamelodi Sundowns, Malawian international Yankho Singo, and an unnamed midfielder from Kruger United.
Singo arrives from Malawi's Big Bullets, where he was contracted until 2028. Karelse, 23, featured just once for Sundowns during the 2023/24 campaign under then-coach Manqoba Mngqithi, who left the club in December.
The Durban-based side is reportedly targeting up to seven new signings as part of a major squad overhaul. This follows the departure of nearly ten players, including Ryan Moon, Kagiso Malinga, Sifiso Mlungwana, Nkosi Gumede, and Puleng Tlolane, as confirmed by Sportswire.
Earlier in the window, Arrows also parted ways with Thabani Zuke, now at Richards Bay, and club legend Knox Mutizwa, their all-time leading scorer.
This aggressive transfer activity comes after a tough 2023/24 season in which Arrows narrowly avoided relegation, finishing 12th with 31 points from 28 matches.
Head coach Manqoba Mngqithi, who famously led the club to MTN8 glory in 2009, has assured the board that, with the right reinforcements, Arrows will steer clear of another relegation scrap in the upcoming campaign.
